Web 2.0 Map!

October 29, 06 by Bharani

Found Web 2.0 Innovation map on the net. Interesting piece of work! Most of the innovations are originating from USA and Canada…

Also found a website called “Museum of Modern Betas”, which picks up web 2.0 applications that are in initial stages. I am not sure if the applications identified are mentioned in Techcruch or similar well-known sites. Moreover, some of the applications identified here have already crossed the beta stage and are in commercial use and therefore I sense that the site is not 100% up-to-date.

Nevertheless, interesting resources!

ISB Search Engine

October 28, 06 by Bharani

I read the news about Google’s Custom Search Engine, which restricts the search only to the sites specified by target user community. The target websites can be collaboratively maintained and managed.

So, I spent some 30 minutes in creating a custom search engine for ISB. Currently the search is targeted to 89 sites including ISB Website and ISB student blogs. Having spent the last 6 months in Enterprise Search domain, I couldn’t avoid appreciating the usefulness of this “targeted search” ;)

ISB Search Engine

Check it out yourself to appreciate or to ridicule!

Trust – An element between Dream and Nightmare?

October 23, 06 by Bharani

“…The only element that keeps people from being terrified from each other is trust – the moment it is lost, people became nightmares to each other…” [RK Narayanan in one of his novels]

A Powerful statement that echoes the day-to-day human interactions in organizations, businesses and any community. For the past 4 months, I have learnt and observed a lot about organizational dynamics around me and involving me. For quite some time, I have been pondering to jot down the key points in a abstract way. I have not blogged for past few days, but each day I missed my blog very much.

Atleast I have set the tone for the upcoming posts.

Life is a sinusoidal curve

October 10, 06 by Bharani

I can’t excuse myself for not blogging in the past 8 days! Life has been quite demanding…seasoning me out…

Got my laptop hard-drive changed. Haggled for it though and ended up saving almost 4000 rupees…Got myself a membership with Cinemaparadiso with part of the saving! Idea is to watch movies in high-quality DVD in my own laptop…Blame it on my mindset and perception that I get a closer-to-theatre feeling whenever I watch in laptop with headphones on …I just hope I don’t end up not utilizing the service! Checked out X-box at a dealer’s location…Core version priced at 22,000 rupees and premium version priced at 26,500 rupees. With Halo 1 and Halo 2 not available in India, it is going to be even tougher convincing myself to pay that kind of price for the X-box…Now X-box is pushed towards the bottom of my priority list (not from my wish list though)!

Enough of useless updates…I am more thoughtful these days…I always think that I am mature, I am able to handle stress, I am smart, I am a diplomat…Every now and then life proves me wrong…I end up learning lessons…I end up self-tuning…Life is a sinusoidal curve! I am just trying hard to decrease the frequency of the curve, so that the span of upward phase outlasts my lifespan! Well, I guess the previous para was a better update 🙂

I am just trying to break the inactivity….

Gandhigiri…

October 02, 06 by Bharani

I was searching for Gandhigiri in Google and found this website dedicated for preaching “Gandhigiri”…The website aims at gathering real-life stories of implementing Gandhigiri, at finding a way to protest against an issue and in creating hype around an issue…

LRM has definitely done something positive to the society…During a television news clipping, a journalist was reporting about the rejuvenation of Gandhi and his principles. She was reporting about the growing demand for Gandhian products (Khadi, Gandhi embossed cups,t-shirts,caps etc.,)…

For more than 50 years, not many thought about gandhian principles in real-life..It took just LRM to bring about some change (however minutest/major it is)…It seriously leaves me wondering at the power of “presenting” the message…
